365 Restaurants!

This idea came about one day when Ogre and I were driving around and I bemusingly said that we should try every restaurant in Plano!  Afterall, we enjoy going out but we’ll sometimes frequent the same restaurant three times in one week.  What if there was a diamond in the rough out there just waiting for our taste buds to enjoy?!  Of course, Ogre smiled and would have pat me on the head if he could have.  The wheels kept churning.  What if we tried a different restaurant everyday!

I consider my enthusiasm to be infectious.  Ogre started to get involved also.  How about if we looked for kid friendly restaurants?  And if we rated them on kid friendliness and, of course, taste!

Our goal is to find restaurants that our whole family can enjoy without compromising flavor.  So many times, we have to “settle” so that we can be comfortable going out with the kids and we would so much rather have them with us when we dine.

So join us on our journey of trying a different restaurant everyday over the next 365 days.  We’ll let you know what our dining experience was like, what we thought about the food and service and how much we spent.

Please feel free to make comments, agreements, and arguments, or provide your own reviews of the places we’ve been.  If you would like to share your dining experiences or make a restaurant suggestion, please feel free to do that also!

Watch out, DFW, the Phipps family is going out to eat!

We got a new book at the library today “500 things to eat before it’s too late”. There are a few Dallas places listed that you haven’t visited yet. One is Avila’s which is recommended for the chile rellenos and Tillman’s Roadhouse for the Frito pie (that doesn’t sound as good as the rellenos).

Yeah, I never could have kept up your pace. I’m sure you will be happy to go to your old favorites or just stay home when it is all over!

OK. Know you are in a time-crunch but thought to put in one more. Whenever we are feeling stressed or tired or going insane (between the 15 month old and the 6 year old – the noise level is pretty high in our house), we usually go to Pho Que Huong for some great soup. I love the Pho Soup with Tendon and Meatball. Their egg rolls and bbq balls are very good. My son (although raised here is a filipino by heart) loves the coconut juice (buko juice to him) and always ordered that. HOpe you can make it and or remember it on a wet or stressed/tired day. Location in legacy/75 and one at 121/preston – plano.

oops. forgot this one. But for kid entertaining restaurant, I heard Trail Dust restaurant in Dallas is good. They have a huge slide from the 2nd floor to 1st floor that everybody can use. I think they have dancing also – it is a country western restaurant.

we have eaten at pho que huong and it’s really our vietnamese standby. we found a few restaurants on this journey that have better this or better that, but overall, i like pho que huong and it’s close!
