Yes, "Halo-halo"...why did I not think of that as a better explanation?? duh! hehehe Anyway, hope you do go back. Another recommendation (and very HOLE IN A WALL place) is Taiwan Cafe on 15th street. My husband who is very americanized, canadianized actually loves this place for breakfast. Very oily food but very cheap - try the potsticker. Warning - not dimsum but more Taiwan-style breakfast but lunch and dinner is "turo-turo" style. They can't speak much english so I have a hard time (I must warn you) but something to check for one of those anything-goes days.

Anyway, we are off to Great Wolf Lodge tomorrow (I remember you mentioned that before) and our friend found a good price for us all ($169 per night for family suite!) Going for just one night and have to go to a funeral while we are there too (for a friend who was killed a few days ago). Great filipino (Fil-Am Pres) friend who is a retired doctor in FW. It is going to be a looooong weekend.

Thanks for the comment. Made be LOL!! I'm not a big pearl/bubble fan. I love Boba Latte, but I always get a smoothie with nothing in it. My husband is a different story. Next time we hit Jeng Chi, I'll have to get him to May's for the Pearl Milk Tea!

So the ice cream sounds like halo-halo?? I love halo-halo. Maybe I'll try the "ice cream" when Ogre gets the Pearl Milk Tea.

You know, I've actually heard that from a few people that the food there is really good, particularly for a quick lunch bite or something.

But yes, I also remember the smell. I don't think I mentioned it in the post because I felt like it already had somewhat of a harsh tone!

I just saw your rant on May's Ice cream :-) hehehe . Hard it may to believe but I frequent this place almost everyday. I go for the Pearl Milk Tea which I find the best of the best (better than the one in Asia). Anyway, if you do forgive the place for the strange name (please do) and decide to go back, they have very good Pork Chop with Rice....and with the Pearl Milk Tea, it came to about $5.50 only! The portion is huge . Also, the chicken leg with rice is very good as well.

Ok, for the name.... I know the owner well enough ... May is his wife (oops, ex-wife as of last year). Ice cream actually is literally that.... owner is from Taiwan....there, they love eating shaved "ice" with cream poured on top. Unfortunately, in the western world, it is misunderstood but to them, it is clear as day.

Anyway, this is one of my favorite place to go to for the pearl milk tea, especially when I was pregnant last year (usually have 2 per visit). See if you can forgive the name and give it another try - just try to avoid the stinky tofu (it really smells - not for the western nose). Also, love the combination rice noodles.
