365 Restaurants, 2 Kids, 1 Giant Fiasco
Today I had a day off with no commitments, appointments or anything else that I had to do, so I thought we should go out to breakfast. Unfortunately, pickings are getting VERY slim for breakfast choices that we haven’t eaten at already this year! The only restaurant that I could think of that serves breakfast? IHOP. So we went.
We walked in and were seated right away, but then there was a good 10 to 15 minute lull before we saw anyone again to get our drinks. By then, we were also ready to order, so we got it all over with at once.
Benji scribbled a little while we waited, but the food came out pretty quickly. Benji went straight for the yogurt, which is no surprise since he is yogurt freak!!
He and I also shared my eggs. I had to keep reminding him not to touch all the eggs and just touch what he wanted to eat. I suppose he wanted to eat all my eggs since he kept touching them.
Benji is the sweetest boy and I got lots of hugs and kisses at dinner. Ogre and I debated if Mina was this cuddly when she was his age. I won’t tell you who said what.
Benji did escape once, but was promptly asked to sit back down and he obliged. I think he then took his shoes off on purpose (he hates not wearing his shoes) so he could get down again. I told him to put his shoes on, which he seemed to be doing, but then the next time I looked he had some gum on his finger that he apparently picked off the bottom of the table. Ew! I had Ogre take him to the restroom stat to wash his hands.
By then, we were ready to head out, our tummies full and our hands clean.
They’re open 24 hours and basically have everything and this can be ordered any time of day or night.
I ordered the International Crepe Passport with the Nutella crepes. I switched out the sausage for ham. It also came with bacon and eggs. I thought this was a pretty good combo. The crepes were filled with nutella and bananas and topped with strawberry syrup and whipped cream. Eggs were nothing impressive. The ham was actually quite good.
Ogre ordered blueberry pancakes, hash browns and over easy eggs. He liked the blueberry pancakes, but said that the hash browns are “no Waffle House.”
Benji ordered the Create a Face Pancake. This is a pancake with strawberry eyes, whipped cream nose, and a banana mouth. It comes with tube yogurt so the kids can decorate the face.
Not very good today. We probably had to wait about 10 minutes for someone to get our drink order and once she dropped off the food, we did not see her again for quite some time; we ended up asking another waitress for napkins. They screwed up our tab, too, but it was in our favor.
Kid friendly, it is. Kids menu, kids activities. They encourage the kids to “play with your food.” I, on the other hand, do not encourage this in any restaurant!
This is my least favorite breakfast place in town, to be honest. It’s okay, I just think there is better everything somewhere else!
The total: $27.00
Childsplate.com chronicles our journey to find the perfect family restaurant. We are looking for restaurants with excellent food and a great attitude towards kids, even the whiny, cranky ones! We will be headed out to a different restaurant every single day to provide ourselves (and you) with some entertainment and good information about DFW area restaurants. We hope you will visit frequently and use our experiences to create some fun dining experiences of your own! Watch out, DFW, the Phipps family is going out to eat!

Furthermore, feeding live food is difficult as all live meals
have a much higher risk in bringing bad bacteria or microorganisms that maybe
harmful to your fish. Wherever you go, different rules may apply, and some of them will be regional only.
You will catch red fish, spotted sea trout, pompano, snook, mangrove snapper, Spanish mackerel, small black-tip sharks, small bonnet sharks,
sheephead & in cooler weather the odd king mackerel.
