Ceasar Salad with Chicken – this was the most mild Caesar dressing I’ve ever had and was fine to eat, not great, but edible. I did not enjoy the chicken which was cold and mushy. Too weird for me. Ogre agrees.
Louisiana Corn Chowder Soup -this was actually very good. The chowder had carrots, potatoes, and corn -even the kids like it! It must have been stewed with bacon as it definitely had a slight pork flavor to it.
Beef Filet – you didn’t get to tell them how you wanted your steak prepared. Ogre’s was closest to medium rare, while mine was closer to a medium to medium well. I don’t like steak that is not medium rare, I ate the very middle part. The steak actually had a good flavor and the red wine sauce that was served atop it was also pretty good. It was served with mashed potatoes, which were good, a plantain chip (which I don’t like) and green beans.
Cheesecake – Our kids love this cheesecake, which is the weirdest cheesecake I’ve ever had. The texture is nearly that of cake and it doesn’t taste cream cheesy at all. You have to imagine that it’s cheesecake and then you might be able to say, “Okay, I see it now.”
Service was very good and we had a great evening, particularly after the dinner dishes were put away and we danced the night away!
Childsplate.com chronicles our journey to find the perfect family restaurant. We are looking for restaurants with excellent food and a great attitude towards kids, even the whiny, cranky ones! We will be headed out to a different restaurant every single day to provide ourselves (and you) with some entertainment and good information about DFW area restaurants. We hope you will visit frequently and use our experiences to create some fun dining experiences of your own! Watch out, DFW, the Phipps family is going out to eat!
